Webpage Functions
The webpage has various functions built in to make it easy to find any file that you require:
- Files are listed in order of most recent first.
- If files have been placed on the site within the past 30 days, a "New" icon will
be displayed.
To find all new files, click on the column heading for [ID]
and the table will be sorted in order of most recent files first. If any were
placed within the past 30 days, the "New" icon will point them out for you.
- Files that already existed previously onsite but were upgraded within the past
30 days wil have an "Update" icon displayed.
If any were placed within the
last 30 days, clicking on the checkbox at the top-left will filter the table to
show only [Updated] files.
- Searches can also be made using:
- [ID] to find a specific file. This is of great use when coming to this page from
a class abstract or an email.
- Emails: we may notify you by email of news from the download area (new files,
updated files, new functions &helip; The email will list the [ID] of any file
discussed, and you can find it by entering the file number directly into the
[ID] data entry box
- Lecture abstracts: Future and past classes are listed in the activities area,
with links to an abstract for each activity. This abstract then links to the
download area to screen for the relevant lecture notes for an activity.
- [keyword] searches both [Topic] and [Description] for the keyword you type. All
files containing your keyword will be displayed, with the keyword itself
highlighted (yellow background, dotted border) to show it in context.
- If [ID] and [keyword] are both specified, the program only looks for [ID].
- If the checkbox for [Updates] is clicked, it responds immediately.
- Where possible and logical, files will be grouped into a zip file for speed and
convenience downloading.
The type of file is indicated with large icons
(PowerPoint, PDF, zip). The size of the file and the date it was last written
are shown on screen for reference.
Authorization (Access)
The availability of files for downloading is controlled automatically, depending on the level of authorization of the viewer. Files available to anyone to download are indicated by a [download] button in the second column from the left.
If restrictions apply as to who may have access to the download function, the [download] button will be replaced by a [please login] message. Once you login successfully, more files will become available to you for downloading, depending on you security level.
